My son has shown a faint interest in learning some programming and I am trying to assemble a quick set of good starting points for him.

One thing that came to mind was the need to highlight some of the very informative and useful resources.

Perhaps you can add a small box of "Recommended Resources" somewhere on the front page. This probably should be placed on the third page down of the front page -- that is, below any games, or on the side bar under the "Featured Articles." The font should be less prominent and perhaps without the author icon so that more resources can be shown.
