I'm trying to use ePSXe but my poor laptop doesn't like FF9's battles. I'd blame my computer but it can run the PC versions of FF7 and FF8 fine, and they both had fancy battle graphics. Would using a really bad emulator with no fancy features and just options for changing the controls, loading an ISO, and closing the program reduce the icky battle-lag? If not then I'll need to start cheating and find a way to have no battles and edit up my levels to kill the bosses because the battles run from 50% to 80% speed depending on whether or not someone is casting a spell :(
It'd also be neat if you could reccommend one, because there's very little doubt in my mind that searching Altavista for "Really bad PSX Emulator" will bring up very few results :P
Edit: Meh I mispelled the topic name <_< yay fixed

Isn't there some kind of options on that emulator to turn off fancy stuff? Also I remember there being some kind of option on there SPECIFICALLY for an FF game (I think I remember 9.)
|
Well I can make the resolution 320x200, but then it looks like an SNES could run it. It's really ugly =( and the only other thing I can lower makes some of the menus not show up =/

I'm fairly sure that the standard graphics drivers for ePSXe (Pete's) include an option specifically for Final Fantasy 9, because they did something screwy.
Alternatively, you could try changing the graphics driver ePSXe uses. |
Well changing the driver seems to have helped so I should be able to live with it. I had tried messing with every option on the drivers' Config box but I forgot there was more than one driver I could choose from =/ one of them made it way worse, but the other seems to have made it almost perfect so it should be bearable =)
I don't think Cow is allowed to have big problems, it has to be something stupid like forgetting he has three drivers to pick from :( |
