You got it. It will make lye, but if you're anywhere close, you won't live to use it. The hydrogen gas released from that reaction ignites itself on the flame the sodium generates when in water and --PFOOM!-- Spontaneous Combustion. It'll make lye, but the reaction is more destructive than lye could ever be.
