I'm trying to avoid the overall "anime" feel that most icons on BYOND have, although with 32x32 pixel art, it seems almost unavoidable. There's just something about him that I can't put my finger on that screams "anime".
Also, keep in mind that imgur messed up the quality, I'm sorry about that.

The "anime" look as you put it does seem fairly unavoidable but that's probably an issue with the size of the graphic. The figures are very simple, and almost stick figure like. Looks like you were afraid of the arms touching sides of his body. It's perfectly for the arms to do that. You may want to try a 64x size instead if you're feeling too limited.(:S) Here is s site that I use to understand how they do characters, creatures, and everything in pixelated games.http://www.spriters-resource.com/game_boy_advance/som/ I also visit http://www.pixeljoint.com/ a place to post pieces of work and you can get feed back on their forums. You may also want to pick up drawing. Buy a book or find a book about figure drawing.

I think it's the eyes that still give off an anime feel. I think of old Castlevania games and I don't even remember them having a face at all. It was just a blank slate. But their faces had about five pixels to work with.

When he says learn to draw, there is actually a lot of basic concepts you can apply that can instantly increase how well you draw.
For example, everything, absolutely every single thing in this entire universe can be broken down into simple shapes. Like a circle, square or triangle. It took me about 10 minutes to read a book and learn this. And my art improved instantly. | |

But basically you're forgetting or haven't learned the foundations yet. The anatomy is horrid if you're avoiding "anime" style (also with the eyes, they're too big?) and he has little to no legs. fix that.

I am not surprised at the maturity level of these critics here. Words like those hurt people. We don't wanna hurt anyone. I suggest you turn your behaviors around to avoid consequences like being banned from the forums.
And before you say "whatever, I don't give a ****," listen here. Everything you do affects your future. Everything you say will be remembered by someone. Before you go burning bridges like that, just think to yourself what consequences would be at stake when you do something you do. Think before you act.
