Can it be done and if so, how?M my phone has become my sole connection to the internet now.

Well, you can use WebChatters, assuming that has Java. http://ncomproductions.com/webchatters

WebChatters isn't really designed for smaller screens.

If there's a program for your phone that allows the use of Telnet, it can be done.

I can successfully join Chatters using an iPhone app from my iPod Touch.

I would shoot for a J2ME Telnet client. A quick Google glance came up with MidpSSH and kTelnet.

Dunno if either will work for your phone, but I'd give it a shot.
